Final Preject

I chose 3 quotes that make me fun, wise and surprise.

At first, the quote makes me fun is I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine, he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar. This quote is kind of funny. People who are not married always expect that it will be cool if they marry someone. But ironically people who are married always saying that marriage sucks. There are many jokes about marriage in Korean also.

Next, we can be wise if we remember this. Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died. It may sound ridiculous, but I think it makes sense. You know doctors care about out lives and sometimes our lives depend on their hands. So they should be careful about treating ones life even if its a small plant. We need to keep it mind that when we go to see a doctor. Because out lives are valuable.

Lastly, the one makes me surprise is Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils. Louis Hector Berlioz. We think and we already know that time is a great teacher for us. As time goes by, we learn something more and more. Thats the truth. However, it is also true that time kills all of us someday. How sad it is! Time gives all of us both life and death. So this quote made me surprise because I didnt aware that until now its very obvious and simple fact though, like sometimes we forget something very important because its too obvious.

These are 3 quotes which I chose. Thank you for listening and I was happy to be with you guys during this semester.

(4)         Interpretation

What does this work mean for people today?

its one of the Gogh’s masterpieces and still look so beautiful and impressive.

_________________________________________________

(5)         Judgment

Why is this work important?

JUDGMENT is a process of deciding the value of something. It is not important that we like or dislike an artwork, but that we try to understand why it is praised by other people. Please explain in your paper why the artwork you have chosen is important.

Choose as many good reasons (theories) as you think appropriate:

The painting is representational, like a photograph. How or how not?

it expresses the color of the night, the texture of street and buildings in detail. But the features of people are rather dull.

_____________________________________________________

The painting expresses emotions, symbols or ideals. What emotions, symbols or ideals?

kind of excited feeling

_____________________________________________________

The artwork is functional, useful? How?

Very useful. super expensive.

_____________________________________________________

The art work is formalistic. Does it have unusual lines or shapes or arrangement?

the shapes of street is very unique. It looks like rocky street.

The group of people or institution that would appreciate this painting the most is

everyone who love the excited feeling of night.

(Another theory)

Ask three others for their reactions to the artist’s work (a friend, a parent, a teacher). What differences do you notice in their opinions?

Answering the questions above will help you decide the style of the painting. Style is the way of painting, like your hair style or the way you use your paint brush. Art style has a lot to do with the way the artists use their brush strokes or color. Some use bold brush strokes and bright colors and others use delicate strokes and light colors. With these questions in mind, answer the following questions, too.

What style is the artwork?

delicate strokes and light colors

____________________________________________

Why is this painting effective?

Even if we see this painting during the day, we feel like we’re at night. The night sky is so beautiful. He didn’t use black to draw the night sky only using blue, purple, green. it makes this more mysterious and sophiscated.

For the courageous –  some would say crazy – tightrope walker Phillippe Petit, life should be lived on the edge. As a metaphor: living life on the edge means a life of excitement; thrilling moments, courage, but also fear. It means to experience life in its entirety, the good and the bad, the love and the sorrow.  It means to take risk.

We all have different philosophies about life. Phillippe’s ‘living life on the edge’ is just one of them.

For this homework assignment, please (1) create your own life metaphor.

Life is gambling.

Sometimes we win, and sometimes we lose. Sometimes we pursue something superficial.  But we keep challenging to win again and again.

(2) Choose 3 quotes of inspiration from Chapter 6 in What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20.

Philippe Petit: To me, its really so simple, that life should be lived on the edge. You have to exercise rebellion. To refuse to tape yourself to the rules, to refuse your own success, to refuse to repeat yourself, to see every day, every year, every idea as a true challenge. Then you will live your life on the tightrope.

1. Don’t worry that the path ahead appears out of focus-squinting isn’t going to make it any clear.

2. Don’t be in a rush to get to your final destination – the side trips and unexpected detours quite often lead to the most interesting people, places, and opportunities.

3.  And, finally, be wary of all career advice, including mine, as you figure out what’s right for you.

(1) Choose 3 quotes of inspiration from Chapter 5 of “What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20″

– Even though it is always difficult to abandon a project, it is much easier in the early stages of a venture, before there is an enormous escalation of committed time and energy.

– Quitting is actually incredibly empowering.

– If you do take a risk and happen to fail, remember that you personally are not a failure. The failure is external. This perspective will allow you to get up and try again and again.
